COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – Two Vibes players are on their way to make their big league debuts in the Mexican Baseball League with the Acereros de Monclova.
Ulysses Cantu and Brandon Perez were both called up to join the roster of Monclova for a series beginning tomorrow with the Diablos Rojos del Mexico. Both have been impressive thus far in the Pioneer League this season. Cantu was leading the Vibes home runs (6) and RBI (31) and Perez was batting .310 with 18 runs in 29 starts with the Vibes.
The Vibes today have activated two players: Miguel Tejada Jr. comes off the injured list and Jaasiel Ochoa comes off the inactive list. Ochoa will make his third start of the season today vs the Billings Mustangs.
Rocky Mountain made another signing today, adding Colorado native Bradon O'Connor to the active roster. O'Connor broke the NCAA Division II record for most steals in a season with a Ricky Henderson-like 97 steals in 105 attempts. The previous record was held by Cisco Johnson who had 96 steals in 1987. O'Connor also boasts one of the highest batting averages this year at all three divisions in the NCAA. He hit .454 this season, with 69 hits in 152 at-bats.
Pitcher Jesus Valenzuela was returned to the Monclova Academy in a corresponding move.
